The main reason I think most people would expect to receive their pre-ordered copies before the product is in stores has nothing to do with the terms and conditions of Kickstarter. It's because they expect any competent company will as a matter of ordinary practice be able to deliver copies to its own customers faster than it delivers product to distributors who distribute product to retailers who put it in stores. That if the company says, "We're going to ship copies to Asian customers directly from Shanghai," that means they are going to arrive *faster*, not slower, than the games that are shipped in bulk from China to the US to Australia. If bulk shipping is faster than individual shipping, most people will scratch their heads and say, huh, why are you doing that then?
