Hello thereThe title 'A Distant Plain' has been on my mind for a while now and I was curious as to its origin.
My uninformed mind saw Afghanistan having more mountains than plains. And I was not sure what 'Distant' meant except possibly that it is distant from the country that contributed the most to the Coalition, the United States.
My best alternative (albeit after thinking about it for only a few minutes) was 'A Burning Valley'. 'Valley' indicating the more mountainous aspects of Afghanistan (I do appreciate there are some plains there) and 'Burning' having a double meaning - the conflict and the climate.
Appreciate any views. Thanks!
Todd
(PS Please, I am not initiating a political discussion. I am just curious about the name and offered my two cents worth)
