SigmaZero, I take your point, but I for one don't believe TI is sufficiently well-balanced that we can abdicate our responsibility to increase fun for players by modding it. Duranium armor is not sufficient to balance dreadnoughts, For a cost of 8, you get a free hit point in every combat round, providing a) you can get your dreadnoughts to the front lines, b) your opponent doesn't have Direct Hit. For that price you can easily build a few more ships that would do just as well for cannon-fodder, only they would travel better, hit more, and cost less for the number of times you actually would use Duranium armor in a game.Sorry, I simply don't understand the philosophical objection against House Rules. Twilight Imperium is a fantastically complex game, and some places are simply lacking. Here are some examples of some very poorly thought out cases:
The Yssaril are generally acknowledged to be overpowered
The N'Orr and Yin are generally considered underpowered
Only drawing your Secret Objective once your Preliminary has been completed is a stupid mechanic.
I've yet to meet any Twilight Imperium player who disagrees with the above statements, they seem to be established consensus (although I expect that any minute now someone will pipe up with a disagreement).
Given that, isn't it our responsibility to do something about it?
