It sounds like someone else in the thread may have an axe to grind against Race for the Galaxy and a contrarian streak as well...
It's fine to say that there are important differences between the two games. But I'm skeptical of any "confusion" as to why the two are often compared...
For me, I very much enjoy both games. I don't have a hardcore board game group, mostly because such groups tend to demand a bit more reliability and time commitment than I'm willing to give, so I end up having to convince non-gamer friends to play the strategy games I love. The greater accessibility of Eminent Domain is very helpful for this reason!
