It's a cinch -- if you're used to playing games of perfect information schizophrenic-style, it works really well with this one. The AI is interesting, and allows you to focus on fewer things at one time, but it's definitely do-able to just play each faction in turn.
(You're right that the card mechanic -- where only two factions can really act for any particular card -- makes this much more straightforward. The hard part is remembering to update state after actions, imho: support, for example.)
