I find the Direct Hit cards to be both extremely over-powered and far too common.
- It stinks that a capital ship can be automatically destroyed by a relatively common action card. You've been planning your campaign for several turns, carefully waiting for the moment to unleash your secret plot and take over the .... oh wait, cheap little action card just wiped out your 12-resource WS loaded with GFs.
- It means no sane person would ever damage their DN or WS before sinking all other ships, and thus the whole "absorb damage" mechanic is almost pointless, which in turn weakens the value of WS and especially DN.
- There's no strategy to Direct Hit. You should always play it when you can.
- It's really annoying when someone plays Direct Hit against you, but let's face it, do you really want to win a massive, decisive battle in TI3 by playing a single action card that requires no strategy? It goes against the entire spirit of TI3 as an epic space opera. Not fun.

Needless to say, we always strip the Direct Hits from the action deck before playing.
