Just thought I'd share my experiences with storing the pieces of this game...I researched the battle foam idea and found it to be a great solution with a few caveats:
1- card storage wasn't very good
2- token storage also wasn't ideal
I decided to go to the local craft store and buy some foam boards and a foam cutter. The foam boards were messy as the foam flaked off constantly, but maybe that was the type of foam I purchased (store had limited selection). The foam cutter (heated metal rod) was expensive $20 but I figured if it worked I could duplicate my efforts for other games and then it would essentially pay for itself. Cutting the foam wasn't easy even with the foam cutter! Trying to cut out a square with a bottom (ie not cutting all the way through) was near impossible.
Then I realized that I had bought a bead sorting box, to store and sort the chits (just enough cubes to sort them all), and it was just the right height to store the majority of the models! Some models didn't fit like the spawn points and kobold wizard, but most of the smaller models did. So I went back and bought 2 more to store the smaller models (stored 1 per cube, no doubling), and 1 more slightly larger box to store the spawn points, heroes and dice.
The only thing left were the big models like Starfire the dragon, Rex and the bear. I also had some old packing foam a computer I bought years ago that was a little easier to work with than the foam I bought from the store, and it didn't flake or make a mess. So I made cut outs for the bigger models, although not as neat as the battle foam or some of the other homemade insert posts.
Long story short I now have:
1 card box to hold sleeved cards
1 small bead box to hold sorted chits
3 small bead boxes to hold small models
1 large bead box to hold medium models and dice
4 foam cutouts to hold large models
And it all fits in the box (no stretching)!
