For what it's worth, I think AA may be the more interesting game, but it requires four dedicated players who are willing to learn and then really investigate the game.
If you're looking for other CDGs you'll find plenty of two player offerings out there (including TS). You might also check out Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage.
