I am thinking that I am playing the government wrong, but I thought the government was supposed to have the strongest army, but the AUC could go in and get the job done in a couple of moves and with far less effort.
A classic counterinsurgent frustration: having so much firepower but unable to bring it to bear on guerrillas who take advantage of a cooperative local population to slip away and hide.
Note that the FARC can defend itself against AUC as well, particularly in FARC's Opposition strongholds: AUC must March in, Activating if their even a few FARC Guerrillas there, so not yet able to Assassinate or Ambush. FARC then can Ambush to eliminate two AUC including Underground if any, or just Rally (no Special needed) to place a base to replace what AUC could remove only by expending a Special Activity (Assassination).
Elsewhere a complaint has been that Factions in the game cannot adequately defend themselves against other Faction's aggression. Here the complaint is that FARC can do so too easily against the Govt. Yet it is far from the case that FARC players are routinely winning and Govt always losing. So I argue that we have balance of capabilities, vulnerabilities, and defensive options right.
Great discussion, thanks!
