If you have the first/earlier edition of the old art ("invisible"/"stealth" Palisade), then in order to play with Republic rules, you need to mentally substitute the Crane for the Circus, and Forum Romanum for the Forum. Colisseum and Senate had no Republic equivalents. You still used those buildings as is
The 2nd/later edition of the old art supposedly has the replacement Republic cards sold separately or included.
