I think this hasn't been asked before:
Rule 18.5 assigns the religious affiliations of units. Minor power units have an affiliation assigned here, too. For example, Scottish regulars are Protestant.
Rule 24.3, however, states that minor power units "affect nearby Protestant/Catholic Conversion attempts just like the other units of that
major power" once they are controlled by a major power.
Of course, one would simply assume here that Scottish units are Protestant as long as Scotland is not controlled by a Catholic major power, and they count as Catholic when controlled by France). However, several things rouse some suspicion:
- Rule 18.5 never mentions that the intrinsic religious affiliation of minor powers has to be ignored once they are controlled by a major power.
- Scotland can, in fact, never be deactivated and will therefore always be controlled by a major power. So their intrinsic religious affiliation is irrelevant.
- Rule 24.3 is almost a verbatim copy from the HIS rules (just "Reformation/Counter Reformation" replaced by "Protestant/Catholic Conversion". The "nearby" doesn't make sense any longer (because in VQ, units only affect the space they are in, not other spaces nearby). So perhaps it slipped in as an oversight.
Thoughts?
And paging Ed, of course.![whistle]()
