However, I did some more digging, and you're right that the games are identical...save some of the info on the back of the box:

2007 (my) edition says "2-7 players" (both text and symbol box) and ages "10+".

2010 edition says "2-8 players" (text and symbol box) and "Not a Children's Toy - Hobby Gaming Product - AGE 13+" and specifies "Fantasy Flight Supply - Card Sleeves #3".

The increase in maximum players is apparently taking the expansion into account, which was overlooked in the 2007 and earlier editions. Don't know about the minimum age change.

So, technically some description differences, while the rest seems to be the same (not sure if the "butterscotch" counters also changed to plastic coin-like chips in the 3rd edition).
