My top three favorite moments so far (none particularly wizardly, but all quite memorable):

1. Playing Hedgerows and Hand Grenades for the first time. Two Heroes meet in the middle of the road, except the American hero has an entire squad backing him up. Who walks away? The German hero, and no one else. Now that is heroic!

2. Playing Bonfire of the NKVD. The Command Post was worth 16 points, and I'd taken some hits trying to reach it. I needed that house if I was going to have a prayer of winning. Up comes a Blaze event, and what hex gets hit? Why, the 16-point command post, of course! Apparently some enterprising Soviet militiaman was fed up with the slow pace of document destruction and just decided to molotov the entire building instead. Well, it worked!

3. That same game saw a Russian infantry gun suddenly materialize in a road just ahead of my position (we decided it had been in a ditch.) What the crew had been doing there quickly became clear, as at ranges of two or less the gunners missed more often than they hit (two out of three shots, I believe.) Don't drink vodka and operate light artillery, folks. It makes you look incredibly stupid before you die.
