I can understand your perspective.

In TI there was a politics card we once voted on that was effectively "Do You Press the Big Red Button?" on a ancient artifact. Everyone briefly unified to pass the bill since it wiped out an aggressive player's fleet in an almost indefensible position. So in that regard, TI is more memorable. However, TI was unwieldy. I still sometimes have nightmares about juggling stacks of miniature cards for Technology, Actions, and planetary control.

Eclipse seems more playable. I don't lose an entire weekend to the experience. And every victory condition is woven into the core choices available to a player every round. And the memories about Eclipse are tied to devious player moves (betrayals or surprise attacks) rather than random events.
