There is a need for secret objectives. Without secret objectives, it is open knowledge what everyone is going after. With SO, it's still a mystery.

The best way to house rule this is to do what Tawnos does:
1. Everyone gets two secret objectives
2. One secret objective is a "Mecatol Rex" based objective.
3. The other objective is a non-Mecatol Rex objective.

Thus, everyone is vying for Mecatol Rex but everyone also has an alternative. It's a good house rule in my opinion.

This is what I do and so far it has worked great.
