Thanks...I missed that rule. I missed two other rules in my first play...the one about discarding down to 10 resource cards and the biggest gaffe in a long time, I missed the rule about peeking at the planets when you move. We played all blind discoveries. My poor daughter flew all around looking for a veggie planet and it really hurt her and she lost big. Everyone still loved the game but agreed that rule would make a huge difference (and huge improvement obviously).
Sadly, my big rules mistake came during my second play. We got it right the first time,but not the second. I misread the rules for building colonies etc. and gave points for them regardless of where they were built, rather than only when built on alien planets. Needless to say, the scores ran up rather quickly.
