The ability to remove a command counter in a system hex, where you just amassed a huge fleet, is pretty cool with Warfare I. However, there is an Action Card that does the same thing in Shattered Empires.

Consider this, Warfare II gives +1 movement and +1 attack. Let's say you have a fleet of cruisers (2 movement), with Type IV drives (now 3 movement). If activated with the High Alert token, those cruisers can strike systems four hexes away. Things get interesting with dreadnaughts and war suns in the mix.

As for playing with the expansion, that was discussed in another thread. Most will suggest playing the base game first without expansions.

Good luck!
