We're experienced gamers, but insofar haven't seen a reason not to fully collude with our regional teams in the brewing process. Why would someone ever lie about what's in their roaster?

We've forced Research for selfish reasons, but I've yet to come across a situation where we'd want to deceive our brewing team.

This is because I wasn't playing in your game group... :ninja:

;)

Teach me your secrets, oh wise one. :)

Well... one of the various strategies I play with is what I like to call the "Classic Chris" but that TC often refers to as the "Lazy Moocher." I don't really pay attention to the color of the beans that I take - I just pay attention to the color beans everyone else is taking. Then I look and listen for the players who are most likely to Blend (and Blend well) on any given turn and then I make sure I'm in their region (or convince them to be in mine). This is where lying about your Roaster comes in handy... "oh, you have lots of green? Me too!"

Then, when it's time to Blend they find out that I usually only have one or two beans in my Roaster, so I tell them I'll go last and draw only one bean. They do all the work, I get the points and then I move onto the next Blending team/individual.

Whenever I Research (which isn't often if I can help it) I focus on Investment so I can maximize those moocher points, as well.

This technique tends to work best in games of 6+ players - and in games where TC or Cherilyn doesn't rat me out.

As a side note, in games where there is a lot of investing going on, it's often a handy tactic to lie grandly about the contents of your Roaster, at least until the investors have chosen someone else's Blend to invest in. :)
