I still think $55 is steep, but fine, let's assume it's a fair price. How about $67? Is that a fair price for this game? Because that is what the game will cost me.

I live hundreds of miles from any physical game shops, so I rely on the wonders of a competitive free market and consumer choice to be able to buy my games from online retailers in batches large enough to avoid shipping fees.

It's the "GameSalute exclusive" model that I really have a problem with.

Frank,

I totally hear you on this, and I completely understand your concern. I truly wish we had the infrastructure and funds to offer VivaJava at a lower price. We have put a lot of thought into the use of the exclusive model, and even we have been torn on it. However, one plus for us with this system is that it provides us with a larger margin of return on the game. If we are able to sell 1,000 copies of VivaJava (and, again, that's always an "if"), the only realistic way we could afford a reprint of the game is with this larger profit margin. Just about every penny of the sale of VivaJava goes right back into Dice Hate Me Games to subsidize future games and reprints.

Again, we know the exclusive system is not perfect, and it impacts the consumer quite a bit. As board game consumers we know that paying a hefty price for a game can sometimes hurt! What I can guarantee you is that we will continue to evaluate the system and see if there are beneficial alternatives.

Cheers,
Chris
