That's somehow showing an inappropriate/problematic "attitude"? I don't see what's rude about a German-speaking game designer (or company rep) telling an English-speaking customer who doesn't speak German where the customer can go to get English explanations from native English speakers and to see/buy the English editions of the games. It seems helpful & reasonable to me. Am I missing something?
Not particularly rude more unhelpful. It comes down to the tone, the fact that I remember it several year later shows how much of an impression it made, and yes I can recognise Friedman, just can't remember whether it was him
